It’s so seldom that we find new alarm clock designs that are truly remarkable that, when we do, they’re truly worth mentioning.
This is the case with the Cylindrical Alarm Clock. It’s so cool we just had to share it with you.
HomeTone.org was the first blog to mention this groovy new Cylindrical Alarm Clock by the Indian designer Vivek Sasindran.

But this innovative alarm clock doesn’t just have good looks - it’s also damn smart.
The Cylindrical Alarm Clock has been intentionally designed to be extremely difficult to turn off while dozing or half asleep.
This is an incredibly good thing, of course, for we all know that snooze clocks are evil.
According to the alarm clock designer’s own text, which might be difficult to read in the image above:
Concept alarm designed to wake up the user completely. Once the alarm rings the user has to lift the strap provided on the side and wind it continuously for 1.5 minutes at not less than 2 rotations per second to stop it. Once the rotation is less than this count, the alarm resets and the process has to be repeated again. A flickering light is also provided, which stops only after the winding has been done properly. The power supply is by means of electrically charged built-in batteries.
As you can read in the quote from the designer above, once its alarm goes off, the Cylindrical Alarm Clock needs to be wound up by a strap to shut the alarm off again. And to make it impossible for you to turn off the alarm while still half asleep, the alarm clock apparently checks to make sure you’ve made a couple of revolutions per second…and you have to wind the strap continuously for a full minute and a half.
Only then can the annoying alarm be turned off!
