Here’s another unusual alarm clock: it has a big, scrolling LED Marquee that you can set to display different custom messages.
It’s the Marquee Alarm Clock:
The display of this alarm clock doesn’t look exactly like the photo above, which is obviously attempting to simulate the horizontal scrolling motion of the marquee messages (Duh!).
Here are some facts about the Marquee Alarm Clock:
- The LED Display has a size of 8 x 7 inches
- The LED Display is composed of 56 individual Red LEDs
- Interesting: the bottom of the Marquee Clock has a flip-out keypad which you can use to type in the customizable messages for the Marquee
- You can enter and save up to four custom Marquee Messages
- Each Message is, however, limited to 28 characters
- The Marquee Alarm Clock can run on batteries and/or normal electricity via a power chord
It’s a darned interesting idea for an alarm clock, but I’m having trouble thinking up the possible uses for this. Would you want to have something like this with a scrolling marquee running in your bedroom? I think it’d make me nuts with the scrolling text.
More than that, I think it’d make my bedroom look kind of like a professional basketball arena. This isn’t exactly my idea of dream interior decorating…but perhaps there are one or two of you out there who’d find that appealing. 
Perhaps it’d make sense as a clock display for sporting events or for a shop window, if you happen to run some kind of a store? In these cases you could probably think up some kind of helpful scrolling messages that would inform people about upcoming deadlines, events or special sales.
There are three different Scroll Modes you can choose from for the Marquee function:
- Scroll just the current time
- Scroll just messages
- Scroll a combination of time and messages
In addition, there are nine different speeds you can choose from to control the speed at which the Marquee scrolls across the screen.
It’s a specialized clock, but this is a specialized kind of blog just about alarms and clocks, so we thought the Marquee Alarm Clock was worth a mention.
