RF Micro Devices is offering laminate-based voltage-controlled oscillators (VCOs) for high performance mobile infrastructure including 4G LTE and Wimax.
Designed to offer phase noise performance that meets or exceeds the requirements of 2G, 3G, and 4G (LTE and WiMAX) mobile basestations, the RFVC975x also offers size reduction for smaller basestations for microcells and remote radio heads.
The supplier said the aim with this scale of device is to support the migration of wireless infrastructure to remote radio heads and distributed basestations.
In March, RF Micro Devices did the same thing and upgraded revenue expectations.
RFMD said it was seeing “broad-based strength in its core business this quarter, with current customer demand significantly outpacing original expectations in both the cellular products group and multi-market products group”.
China is the key market for mobile right now, but Korea and other Asian markets are strong too.
